365 project Week 11!

We had another fun week! I like that he enjoys the park as much as he does. Even though he is terrified of the playground equipment and just collects rocks and throws a ball around. Someday soon he'll go down the slide more than once and he won't look scared when he does it. We had ANOTHER illness sweep the house this week, I think it came from the Stay and Play at the library, there were some snotty nosed kids last week and I'm sure it came from one of them. Anyway, I started a new block of classes and am excited to finally start some of my core classes.

Monday 3/14/2011
Today we went to the park and the popped into the library for a little. Seamus had a blast even though I forgot a ball (I know BAD mommy!) He watched some kids at soccer practice for a while yelling, "GO! guys GO!" and cheering them on. It was so cute! As soon as he's old enough I want to enroll him in some sort of sport. My cousin Ethan did the YMCA's tot sports program and they covered three or four sports over a few months, maybe we'll do that. Anyway, because I forgot the ball we spent our time collecting rocks and examining them. Eventually Seamus got tired and climbed into his stroller so we could walk home. The kid knows what he wants.

Tuesday 3/15/2011
We stayed in today because I did not feel super great. I didn't sleep very well the night before so we colored and played with play dough all afternoon. It was fun. Then Jacque came over in the evening and we went to get hair dye and then we dyed her hair and watched Glee and Raising Hope. Seamus was in our backup car seat and his feet fit perfectly on the back of Jacques seat, he just relaxed on the way home.

Wednesday 3/16/2011
Today we went to the park for a little bit but Seamus didn't seem like he was into it. He must not have felt very well because we were only there for about 15 mins when he asked to go home. So we went home and colored some more. I downloaded a Sesame Street coloring book so we have like 100 different Elmo coloring pages to get to. Seamus likes to have pictures of his feet taken, it's silly but I oblige him, sometimes they turn out pretty good.

Thursday 3/17/2011
Happy St. Patricks Day! Today was John's day off, so naturally we did nothing. John likes to stay at home and never leave on his days off. It drives me nuts! It's the one I can run errands with some assistance and he pouts the whole time! Anyway, we took a little walk as a family and then played downstairs for a bit. Seamus likes to run up and down our narrow parking lot and as long as the gate is closed I let him. So, he and John ran up and down at least fives times before Seamus wanted to go inside for a drink. That night was family dinner at Tina's. Josh dyed some hamburger meat green and we had green frosted cupcakes for dessert. Seamus has developed a love for his hat and shared it very nicely with the other boys while we were there. That night he got sick! Super sick, he woke us about 2:30 screaming and was covered in vomit. We cleaned him up changed his sheets and layed him back down only to hear screaming 15 minutes later. This time he needed a bath. He couldn't keep anything down, not even water so I stayed up with him and held a bowl under his chin until 4:30 when he fell asleep. I waited awhile before I moved him back to his crib and went to bed myself. I wanted to make sure he wasn't going to wake up again.

Seamus did not sleep in like I had hoped, instead he woke up 30 minutes before he normally does. Yay for a sleepy mommy! He did not get sick again all day so we went to the park for a bit to get some fresh air. We mostly just walked around and looked at the birds and people playing with their dogs. He started to look sleepy so we finished running our errands and went home. No stay and play today, I didn't want him to get the other kids sick. Instead it was a lot of short naps and Elmo today. I got in a few naps too! That night to get some more fresh air we all went up to the circle K to refill the water jug. When I got back in the car John had put a sticker in the middle of Seamus' forehead.

Saturday 3/19/2011
Today was free admission to the Children's Museum because of their birthday celebration. I was supposed to watch Gwen for Heather but ended up not having to so, Ciara, Seamus and I headed out sans Gwen. Seamus seemed to be feeling better but was over whelmed by the amount of people there. (John was sent over to pass out fliers for the exhibit and got rid of 300+ fliers in less than an hour!) We still played a little and Ciara got to see some stuff she wanted to. She also climbed a rock wall in her flip flops, Go Ciara! After the museum we went to the mall and met Jacque there to get the freebie from Bath and Body Works. Seamus is currently using the bag to store rocks in. After the mall we went up to my GGMa's new house to drop off Ciara and stayed for awhile to let Seamus run amuck before shoving him back into his car seat. We picked up John from work and went home. That night Seamus got sick again, this time out the other end. Ugh, it was everywhere and the poor kid was so scared! He would cry and shake every time it happened. If I hugged him too tight he would go again, it was an awful cycle of poo and crying for a awhile. He didn't have a fever though so I figured it was something he ate, he did put a rock in his mouth so who knows what on that thing.

Sunday 2/20/2011
Having been accident free all morning we were in the process of getting ready for church when Seamus got sick again. So, we called a sub and stayed home. He just layed on the couch most of the day and spiked a small fever a couple of times but nothing that warranted Tylenol or anything. We watched Shrek Forever After and Seamus began imitating the nose horn sound that they make. He'll pinch is nose and say, "Doo-doooo" like a trumpet. then he'll grab our noses and expect the same sound from us. He also has started to get very upset when the little yappy dog next door barks because he shouts, "No! dog bark, No!" "Stop dog, no bark!" until it stops.
My sick baby camouflaged with the couch.

So, the week started out great and slowly progressed into illness again. I hope that his system toughens up a bit so that we don't have to spend so many days inside. He seems to finally be feeling better (today is Wednesday) so, now we all have to hope that I don't get it. I'm kind of a baby when I'm sick and poor Seamus will be bored out of his mind if I'm couch bound for even a day. So, say a little prayer. See ya next week!

Week 10!

Week 10 was finals week for me. I only take two classes at a time but each block is 9 weeks long. So, I had to study hard because each final is worth a huge portion if my grade. In once class I had an essay test that was pretty hard but I had all week to finish it. I ended up with an A in each class with a 90% on one final and a 99% on the other, I lost a point for grammar on my essay test. I thought spell check was supposed to find those little mistakes. At any rate, when I wasn't studying Seamus and I were busy exploring.

Monday 3/7/2011
Today was our slow day. John was at work all day so we stayed in. We colored and drew with chalk on the patio. Seamus has recently become fascinated by our credenza and the contents inside. He opens and closes the door all day long, pulling stuff out and playing with it (that is where he found that candle that made him smell like passion fruit.) So, I have a lot of pictures of him playing with things he probably shouldn't. His favorite is Johns de-soldering tool that is made of a combination of plastic and metal so it makes a "cool noise" when banged up against stuff. He also found the can of air that we use to blow dust out o computer components. When John got home from work he joined in the fun. Seamus' funky face is because he was just shot in the armpit by a blast of air.

Tuesday 3/8/2011
All day Monday Seamus was asking to go to the park, but the stroller was in the back of the car so we had no way to get there. When John got home from work Monday I pulled the stroller out so that we could go to the park. We walked to Himmel Park and played for about an hour then went to the library. We got a couple of Elmo movies so that I didn't have to watch the same three that we have and some books. He really likes the Max and Ruby book, even though he has never seen the TV show.  I didn't get a chance to look for anything for me because he is just too rambunctious right now. He is still learning library etiquette. He runs around yelling and laughing, so we never stay long. He loves books though and he has a couple favorites that we read all of the time. Anyway, the park was a blast and Seamus is at a point in his development that he is fascinated by little things. He gets down really low and studies dirt and sand and rocks.

Wednesday 3/9/2011
Today was Grammy Glor day! So, I cleaned and studied and did some serious work on my essay final. I almost cheated because I was looking online for some more information and I actually came across my final online! I clicked on the link because the heading was exactly what I was looking for and it ended up being my final. I panicked and closed out the Internet. When Seamus got home we watched Elmo and I got dinner ready. Not an eventful day for me but Seamus was happy when he got home.

Thursday 3/10/2011
This was Johns day off so, it was spent hanging with Daddy. We cleaned a little and ran a few errands but mostly we just hung out. John slept in late so Seamus and I went to the park for a bit and then to Costco (to get the things I forgot when John rushed out of there the first time) Family dinner this week was a Grammy and Pa's in celebration of Pa's birthday. We had some super delicious steaks and Grammy's famous Mac'n'Cheese. Seamus had a blast playing with his cousins outside. The weather was amazing so we spent most of the evening out there. My GGMa came so we sang Happy Birthday to her as well and had some carrot cake balls and cheesecake for dessert. After dinner John and I drove GGMa home so John could set up her computer for her. Seamus was wired from all of the strawberries he ate and played the entire time we were there. He made is first pillow fort on GGMa's couch, played her organ and bounced a ball around. He also shared his favorite book, "BooHoo Bird" with GGMa and Aunty Granny Lynn. I laughed so hard because he was so cute telling them what happens in the book.

Friday 2/11/2011
Seamus and I took John to work today so that we could go to stay and play at the library. After we dropped him off we had some time so we went to the park and played for a bit until it was time to go. He really loves the park. Today we played in the sand and collected rocks (we always collect rocks) He is still very much against the playground equipment but someday he'll decide he wants to slide or swing or something but for mow we run around, throw a ball and collect rocks. Playtime at the library went extremely well this week. He played well with others and helped to clean up. He signed along with the songs, I don't think he knows the words well enough to sing them yet but he does the motions and laughs along with the other kids. He made it the whole stay and play without an outburst. I was so proud of him. Then we went home for lunch and spent the rest of the day at home. John went straight to Bryan's after work so it was just Seamus and I until my mom and Ciara came by around 7:30. Ciara slept over, so my mom hung out for a little bit and then went home. Ciara and I watched Diary of a Wimpy Kid, it was a cute movie.

Saturday 3/12/2011
The morning was a little hectic as we tried to figure out how we all were going to get to the book festival. We finally figured it out and away we went. My Mom, Ciara, Seamus and I all went. We got there late and it was ridiculously busy so we did not stay long. These types of events are not stroller friendly nor are they toddler friendly. But, mom got an autograph from her favorite author and Ciara made one of those photo flip books with Seamus so it wasn't a total bust. Once we left we had lunch at Chuys and then dropped Ciara and Seamus off at my apartment so Mom and I could switch cars with John (he had taken my mom's little truck to work, that's how we all had room) She and I took a little detour home and stopped at Ross and Burlington to look for sandals for her and work clothes for John. We were successful in both searches and now John has two new work shirts and my mom has a cute new pair of sandals for the summer. When we got home Ciara and Seamus were both passed out on the couch, it was pretty cute.

Sunday 3/13/2011
Pretty slow day. Breakfast, church, lunch and dinner. After bath time Seamus put on a pair of pj bottoms that had a monkey on the butt. He wanted to see so I took a picture of them. He even got onto his stomach so I could get a clear shot of his rear. Goofball.

Week 10 done! We had a lot of fun at the park this week so it will definitely become part of our routine. They have also changed toddler story time at the Himmel library so we should be able to start going to that as well. Yay! I am definitely finding that this project has motivated me to be a more active person than I normally am. Now, we walk all over the place because you never know when something great is going to happen. I like that I can incorporate my daily walk into playtime as well. The park is just far enough away that if I walk briskly I feel like I'm doing some good. So we walk, run around the park for awhile and then walk back. I also search for free events that we could go to as well. I am excited about John working at the King Tut exhibit because immediate family gets in free. That is on our list of things to do this week as well. OK friends see you next week!

Week Nine!

I am a couple of weeks behind because last week was the final week on my first year of classes at University of Phoenix. I am half way there! Yay! I was so busy studying that I neglected my readers, all 10 of you, sorry. I got an A in both classes though so maybe that makes up for it.

Monday 2/28/2011
We went on a Scout hunt today. Seamus woke up this morning seriously upset that his Scout (a lime green stuffed dog, made by Leapfrog that knows his name, favorite food and color) no longer worked. "Cout broke" "cout no work" "Dadda fis it", is what we heard all morning so, after nap time we set out to get a new one. I first went to WalMart because I know that it is cheaper there than at Target, sold out, no Scout in sight, so down the road to Super Target, sold out. I did have them search to see if any were available anywhere else and wouldn't you know it, the Target that is three minutes from my house had four of them. Poor Seamus had to wait so long to get his new scout, but once we did he was one happy camper! As soon as we got to the car I opened it up and passed it over to Seamus. "Dis Cout wok!" "Cout not boken!" I made his day and he slept well that night because Scout was there to sing him lullabies. I didn't get a picture of Seamus with Scout but I did catch him playing with my computer.

Tuesday 3/1/2011 - Welcome to March!!!
John had finals today so he spent most of the morning studying. So, Seamus and I followed our usual Tuesday routine. We colored, played outside for a bit and practiced learning shapes. He has circle and triangle down. Except when he sees a triangle most of the time he says "Telly" (as in Telly monster from John read Seamus a story and I took pictures of it.

Wednesday 3/2/2011
Today was grocery shopping day. John hates this day, I love it. We went to Costco and then to Fry's. John rushed me through the stores so I forgot a bunch of stuff and have since had to go back. Oh, well more shopping time for me! At Costco we of course stopped for some eats. Seamus has begun to make decisions about his meals and when asked will choose what he wants most. I asked him if he wanted pizza or a hot-dog, today he chose pizza, the next time we went he chose a hot-dog.  He knows what he wants!

Thursday 3/3/2011
Today was a fun day! My friend Shannon from high school was in town visiting her parents so I met her at Pump It Up for the pre-K jump time. Seamus loved it until it got busy then he was done. He panicked every time I tried to get him in a bouncy house. Not happening. Eventually I gave up and let him run around and play with a ball. It was nice to see Shannon again because I'm pretty sure that we had not seen each other face to face since graduation. Her boys are super adorable and active. Little Trevor cracked me up. He was perfectly content just like Seamus to run around and chase a ball. That night was family dinner at Tina's. Each week I spend with them I am more and more grateful for what wonderful people they really are. I am so blessed to have such a loving and supportive family.

Friday 3/4/2011
Seamus went with Grammy Glor today so I cleaned, a lot because my Pull-Up's Potty Dance Party was the next day. I took a break and went to lunch with Jacque and then to Ross to get John... wait for it... work clothes! Yay! John had to WORK that night and needed black dockers and a black polo. Easy find at Ross. Jacque found some cute stuff for her niece-to-be also! That night we were supposed to feed the missionaries but because Johns was working we couldn't have them over. Instead, and I really feel awful about this, really really awful, I bought them a frozen pizza (DiGorno) and a box of cookies from the bakery. Sorry guys! I'll make it up to you someday I promise!
here is my son, playing with candle wax. He smelled like passion fruit even after his bath!

POTTY DANCE DAY!
I was pretty anxious about this party. One) because it was in out tiny apartment and Two) it was a party I was hosting in general. I think it went well. We had some awesome swag bags thanks to houseparty.com and Pull-Up's and we did the potty-dance. As parents we swapped tips for potty training and shared some horror stories as well. I like the idea of putting Cheerios's in the toilet so that he'll have something to aim at. I made some cupcakes and Cole brought some too! Graham really enjoyed his! Seamus was a little nervous about having all of these people in our home so he mostly stood back and observed the entire time. Once people started to leave though, he was right by the door telling everyone "Bye!Bye!" as they left. I think he was relieved to have everyone gone because once the house was empty again he ran around laughing and smiling. Then he got ahold of a marker and colored on himself, a lot.

Sunday 3/6/2011
Let me start by saying that Fast Sunday is hard, and for some reason when you have afternoon church it's even harder. We had an interesting Fast and Testimony meeting today. I just hope that the man who spoke out the way did has received some comfort in knowing that we were not judging him and that as a congregation we were all there because we love and wanted to honor the Lord. It's not our place to pass judgement like that and I guess shame on whomever treated him so poorly. After church we went to Bryan and Dawns for dinner. Ashton wanted to play Magic with John so he called and invited us over (heehee.) His message was so cute, garbled but cute.

So, that's week 9 in a nut shell. John will be working for the Rialto Arts and Antiquities building at the King Tut exhibit. I encourage all of you to check it out. It's pretty cool! Two of the artifacts in the show are the only ones left because the originals were destroyed in Egypt during the January revolts. Until he starts school next week he's working full time. Once he starts school he'll probably go down to part-time to accommodate his schedule. I am so happy that we finally have some sort of reliable income. I can breathe a little easier now and I have certainly slept better since he got the job. I am so grateful for the peace that I had in my heart while we were struggling. I know that the Lord heard my prayers and comforted me until the opportunity presented itself.
A shout-out to all f my family and friends who made it out to the Potty Party! It was great to have all of you there and even better to know that we are not alone when it comes to potty training. Love you guys and See ya next week!

Here they come!

With finals over I am free to blog as usual. I wanted to give myself enough time to study and complete the essay questions so my blog got the axe for a week. Never fear friends and family. I am working on both weeks and will have them ready for you soon!

XoxoXoXO,
